Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic confirmed that he wants to leave the club to become a starter elsewhere just days after Cadena COPE reported that his agent had asked Madrid for a way out.
"I want to play more and it's better for me to leave Real Madrid," said Kovacic in an interview with MARCA.
"I love football and I love being on the pitch, so I want the opportunity to be a starter," he added. "I'm not happy when I'm not playing," explained Kovacic.
What Kovacic revealed in this interview isn't surprising. He has great potential and could be starting in almost every European club. Modric is still in great form and Kovacic can't afford to wait that much considering that he's been a reserve for the last three years.
Real Madrid reportedly told Kovacic's agent that they won't let the midfielder go, but Kovacic is now forcing the issue and Madrid should probably try to sell the player given that a loan deal is not an option for a player of his caliber.
