Liverpool are facing a race against time to secure the signing of Thomas Lemar from Monaco, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that Jurgen Klopp is “eager” to complete a deal to sign the Monaco forward, who has also been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout the summer.

The same report says that Liverpool have tabled a proposal worth £74m and that they could include Divock Origi as part of the transfer.

The story also says that it is clear that Liverpool are prepared to “shatter” their transfer record once again, after having tied up a £55m deal to land Naby Keita from RB Leipzig.

The article reports that the fact that Lemar could be in international action for France on Thursday night could affect the Reds’ plans to sign him before the deadline.

Liverpool are believed to be on the lookout for more signings before the transfer window closes, with the Reds having so far bought Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Dominic Solanke so far this summer.

The Reds also tied up a deal to land Keita from Leipzig, with the midfielder set to officially join the Merseyside outfit next summer.
