Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu thanked the Customs Comptroller General for honouring Senate's invitation and asked why he is not wearing the Customs uniform.
"Please oblige us if you have any reason for not wearing the Customs uniform", he asked.
"No law against me for not wearing Uniform", Hameed Ali told the senators.
Bala Ibn Na’Allah, senator
representing Kebbi south, said the letter sent to the senate by Ali on
not wearing his uniform is derogatory.
Na’Allah cites sections seven, eight
and 10 of the Customs Act which states that the Customs shares same
privileges with police and other institutions, which includes wearing
uniforms.
